I get a lot of these gold Finch in my garden but I have to feed them in their own space in the Garden because they seem to be a shy bird and can be easily chased off from their feeders by other bird activity. I feed them in a Glory Bower tree and they are the only ones that get fed there. I have feeders like the one you have shown in this photo but I finally retired them because the feeder that they favor is a Thistle seed sock. You can buy them for about 6 dollars already filled with thistle seed in most stores that sell wild bird feeding supplies.
Just refill them as they become empty, they love hanging from these socks to feed! I have gotten many, many, more of these Gold Finch to feed in my garden since feeding them in these socks!
