They might be called common but I sure find the house finch entertaining in the garden. Like you ... I feed all comers. Although I haven't had any Turkeys or Cardinals.
All the others you have taken these beautiful close up shots of, have though. We spend as much money in wild bird food as we do in pet food.
One of my favorite birds that comes to visit is the Northern Flicker and the Jay. I have iron hanging peanut feeders at my front window and I have to shut my blinds everyday, because the Jays come and peek in the window at me and want more peanuts, when I have already fed them more than they need. I have taken many pictures of my Garden friends but not as good as yours. I would like to get a light weight hunters blind to get closer shots. I have a telescopic lens for my digital camera, but they still see me before I can get in for a good closeup. I do have some good ones of the Jays though, because they come right up to me, the monkeys, asking for peanuts as soon as I step out my front or back door, ha,ha! They all ... make life more alive and full of color, don't they!
